What are we all playing this weekend?

Sometimes, the stoic, ruminant gaze and flowing mane of a himalayan tahr goat is just what we need to get us through the week. Sadly, very few of us can pull off such a look. But we can at least aspire to embody its temperament on the inside. Probably best that way – a Dualshock controller doesn’t have the same oomph on a quartet of cloven hooves.

So, fellow ungulates – here’s what we’re all clicking on this weekend!

Brendan
I am on Summer Geoff Duty, so I’ll likely be typing a lot of news posts and hot takes instead of playing anything. But if I get a sec, maybe a spot of Dune: Awakening.

Edwin
Help! I’m at large in Los Angeles, where the video games are ever-summery and festive, and the Geoffs whistle from every window. I’ll be playing a bunch of games this weekend, many of which I’m obviously not yet allowed to talk about, so I will instead list some games I’m not expecting to play: G-Police 3, Azure Dreams Remastered, lacrosse, noughts-and-crosses, Beyond Good And Evil 2, Azad.

Graham
I’m still grinding my way through Fantasy Life i and having a merry time, so maybe that. Or more likely I’ll be playing some Mario Kart World on the new not-PC.

James
James has a palm tree next to his name in Slack again, the little scamp!

Jeremy
A game involving sand, big worms, and spice awaits me this weekend. Spoiler alert, I’ll be dabbling around in Dune: Awakening for guidestown ahead of its full release next week. You know, despite having minimal interactions with Dune over the years, I do listen to the rather awesome Adlib soundtrack for the 1992 strategy game from time to time. I also failed mightily at reading Dune when I was 14 and haven’t watched the films, but this is a nice opportunity for me to do so, including the David Lynch movie, which I feel strangely compelled by moreso than the newer ones.

Mark
Help. I’ve gotten into Euro Truck Simulator 2. The transformation started before I even emerged into the RPS-verse, so I’m not sure if the two are related. I’ll be trundling around Germany, France, and probably Grimsby this weekend, delivering all manner of goods and occasionally crashing into bollards when I lean over to change which tune’s playing, having forgotten that I’m doing 60 on the motorway. I might have finally gotten over the weird feeling that comes with changing up through the 15 million gears of a lorry using the flappy paddles of a racing wheel rather than a proper stick by Monday. We’ll see.

Nic
Nic has no palm tree next to his name, and is therefore fired.

Ollie
I’m still making my way slowly, oh so slowly, through Clair Obscur. I’ve just finished a stellar Act 1, and it’s still been a very long time (not since Pyre, maybe?) since I’ve needed to know more about the gorgeous and heartbreaking world I’m exploring. However, Elden Ring: Nightreign is now out, and I’m addicted. It can’t recapture that Elden Ring feeling, but it doesn’t have to, nor does it intend to. I’m enjoying every second of it that isn’t spent awaiting my brother to reconnect after his game inexplicably crashes to desktop. It’s been interesting playing both these games side by side. Lots of parallels that go deeper than the obvious.

But you, reader dear, what are you playing this weekend?…
