Tick tock, that’s the sound of your life marching ever closer to the grave. Better squeeze in another video game. Clockwork Revolution is the steampunk time travel shooter from RPG folks InXile Entertainment. The developers of this have been quiet the last couple of years, but it’s back with an appearance at Xbox showcase, this time with an extensive trailer you’ll find below.
As someone said in the YouTube chat while this trailer is playing: “What is this game? Yes.” Lots of dialogue! Customisable guns! Time powers! Classes, traits, attributes! Heists! British accents!
Like I say, you may remember Clockwork Revolution from its reveal a couple of years ago. It looked a lot like BioShock Infinite. But this city is called “Avalon“, and its run by a lady, not a man. Can we call it an alternate reality Ken Levine ’em up? Probably not, for legal reasons.
InXile are the studio that made Torment: Tides Of Numenera, an surreal RPG that was beloved by Alec (RPS in peace). More recently they made Wasteland 3, which was a bit bloated and backward-looking as RPGs go. Clockwork Revolution looks… Also bloated, but like it’s looking at FPS-RPG hybrids from five to ten years ago rather than those of 25 years ago. I remain intrigued.
